Plant A Tree Programme at East Coast Park, Area A on 28 September 2019

Tree Planting is part of the Environmental Protection activity that Amriteswari Society has been undertaking for the past few years.

The tree species that the participants will be planting, in commemoration of AMMA’s 66th Birthday, are as follows:

1) Horsfieldia irya

2) Horsfieldia polyspherula            

3) Knema curtisii                               

4) Syzygium glaucum                        

5) Barringtonia edulis                       

More information on the plants can be found HERE. The trees will be randomly allocated to the participants.

Where to Meet & Time: 

The NParks officers will be conducting a briefing prior to the tree planting and would require all participants to reach the meeting point at 0900am.

There will be 2 meeting points at the following locations:

1) Meeting Point 1 – Fort Road Carpark

2) Meeting Point 2 – Bridge (facing ECP Area B)

Getting there: 

By Car (Meeting Point 1)

Nearest Car Parking Facilities are located at Fort Road Car Park (Next to the junction between Marina East Drive & East coast Rd/ Tanjong Rhu Flyover)

By Public Transport (Meeting Point 2)

Bus Stop: Opp Fort Gdns – 158, 30, 30e, 158A, 401

Walk towards ECP Area B and head towards the green bridge facing ECP Area B

*Keep a lookout for NParks staff who will be dressed in the NParks corporate tee at the meeting points.

Programme & Additional Details: 

09:00am – Participants to gather at meeting location. NParks staff will lead  the participants to planting site

09:15amWelcome speech and brief introduction + tree planting demonstration 

09:30 am – Participants proceed to tree planting session 

11:30 am – Individual group photo taking session 

12:00pm – Return tools and wash up, end of tree planting activity

 

Things to bring and Attire: 

Insect repellent (insects, including mosquitoes are expected in the park).

Do wear long sleeve tops and long pants to reduce the likelihood of getting bitten by insects. This will also protect you from UV rays. A hat and comfortable shoes are also encouraged.

You may bring a fresh set clothes to change into after the tree planting activity (optional).

Additional Note: 

Do note that 1 set of planting tools will be provided per tree.
